25 Things I Loved About 25

I turned 26 yesterday, and the last few weeks I've been thinking about the past year and everything that has happened. This past year was full of so many new and exciting things. If I could describe the year in one word, it would be learning.

All in all, I think 25 has been one of my better years, and because I love lists, I decided to write down all the things that made this year special. And it should be noted that each one was made even more special because I shared it with my kind and supportive husband, Jordan. So without further ado, 25 Things I Loved About 25:

1. Houston

We moved to Houston in November 2015, and it took me a good 6 months to find out that I actually liked Houston. I spent the last year getting to know more of this city. Food, art, museums, markets, what's not to love?

2. Tripp Films

This is obviously a big one. I feel so blessed and privileged to be able to quit my full-time job and start Tripp Films. I've learned so incredibly much and have met so many wonderful people. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

3. Great Movies

La La Land, Don't Think Twice, Manchester By the Sea, Arrival, just to name a few. Also, I'm curious, what are your fave movies from the past year??

4. Sojourn Heights

We joined Sojourn Heights Church this year and have become more involved in our neighborhood parish (or small group). Jordan and I have made so many wonderful friends through our parish and we've enjoyed a sweet time of community at a time when we were new to Houston. God has also used the church and our parish to strengthen my faith and teach me so much more about His love and character.

5. Discovering Top Chef

I love competitive cooking shows.

6. Coffee Coffee Coffee

There's so many great coffee shops in Houston! I feel like I've enjoyed so many over the past year, but I still have so many more to try. Here's to 26 and lots of caffeine!

7. West Coast Road Tripp

Jordan and I road tripped from Big Sur, California, to Seattle, Washington. It was everything I dreamt it be. Since this trip was such a big part of my year, the next three things are devoted to this trip.

8. Best Croissant of My Life

I thought I didn't like croissants. Then I went to Tartine Bakery in San Francisco, and my life changed forever.

9. Big Sur

Never have I ever seen anything more beautiful than the drive up the California coast on Highway 1. I was completely speechless.

10. Multonmah Falls

The Oregon landscape is almost otherworldly. Multnomah Falls is just one example of all the lush, green scenery that we got to see on our way through Portland and Oregon.

11. Tuesdays Together

I joined a group for Houston-based creatives and it's been amazing. As a result of meeting so many wonderful people through the group, I've learned a ton about business and social media.

12. Work Buddy

Luckily at the time I started Tripp Films, I also had a friend in my parish named Ashley, and she also owns her own business. Whether it's co-working together at each other's homes, or brainstorming business ideas, she's been such a blessing to me during this time of my life.

13. 8th Wonder Brewery

8th Wonder has been my go-to spot from the past year (see pic of Ashley & I above). The beer is delicious and the vibe is so chill, I love it.

14. Patriots Win the Super Bowl ... Again

Haters gonna hate.

15. Collaborations

From Wedded Weekend to Maxit Studio Styles and other collaborative shoots, I've enjoyed working with and being inspired by other creatives on a regular basis.

16. S-Town

Still can't decide if I love it or hate it, but S-Town was unlike anything I've ever heard. Check out this podcast and let me know your thoughts!

17. Becoming More bold

I don't know if it's the result of becoming more confident as I get older or starting my own business or moving to a new city, but I have definitely seen myself grow in boldness over the past year. I'm not as shy or intimidated to go after what I want. I love that and I hope it only gets better with age.

18. Homemade Pasta

Homemade pasta has vastly improved my quality of life.

19. Axelrad

This is another super chill place . If you haven't been, you must visit Axelrad soon.

20. Traveling around Texas for work

Travel is an important part of my life, and I've been amazed that so many work projects have allowed me to travel outside of Houston. This next year, I hope to broaden the radius even more and travel outside of Texas for work.

21. Celebrating 2 years of marriage

Yay! We celebrated in my fave city and where we started our marriage - Austin.

22. This us Us & Big Little Lies

Hands down the best shows on television this past year... besides Top Chef.

23. Neighborhood Walks in the Heights

I absolutely love living in such a walkable neighborhood. I live within walking distance to 3 different coffee shops and countless restaurants. Jordan and I also just love going on walks and looking at all the pretty houses. So much to do and see in this neighborhood!

24. Hopdoddy

The best burger on the planet came to Houston last year. Actually it opened on my 25th birthday! Maybe that was a sign of my good year to come...

25. Sunday Drives

Lastly, I've enjoyed so many little moments from this year. From neighborhood walks to weekend drives in my '66 Mustang. I feel like 25 was defined by a few big events surrounded by lots of wonderful little moments.

Congrats you've made it to the end! 25 is going to be a tough year to beat, but I'm looking forward to another year of growing, discovery, and more delicious food and coffee!
